Every May for the last 32 years OBX runners and people like me, who just like having fun, participate in the Nags Head Woods 5k race.
Outer Banks follow its tradition and this time the race took place on Saturday, May 9 just on the Mother’s day weekend.
374 participants took part in the race this year. Some of them ran double 5k, kids ran fun race, and most of the crowd did 5k – I hope everybody reached the finish line.
It was a perfect Saturday morning to spend running in the woods with such a great group of people. Some of them were serious: stretching out/warming up before the race and someone like me was just happy to be there. I loved to see kids doing their best to run faster, adults pushing themselves to reach better result than last time or just prove to themselves that they could simply do it.
I have to admit we had the best supporters ever – always clapping and cheering you up even if you were walking or running behind.
As usually it felt great to cross the finish line and finally be at the destination point, where, thanks to all the sponsors, medals, water, fruits, beer had been waiting for all the participants.
According to the race results the fastest Mom on the beach became – Jessica Jennings! Congrats to her!
The coolest thing was the after party for all the runners, which happened at the Ramada Plaza Nags Head Oceanfront. There was lots of delicious food: salads, fried chicken, fruits, pizza, drinks and beer. What more can you ask for sitting on the deck enjoying the weather after the run!? Just perfect!
It was our pleasure to host this wonderful after party for all the runners and be part of a charity race. We are thankful to everybody who came and join us. We hope everybody had a great time, like I did.
Stay tune, Ramada Plaza will keep you posted about what’s happening around. We are always part of cool things.
